Day Two and Three

Intro:

Today I was not running. I chose to do that every other day. However, I still got the opportunity to snap a couple of pictures. Enjoy!

This is the White House from Pennsylvania Avenue. To the west sits the old War Department building which has some of the most fascinating architecture in the entire District. Unfortunately, I took no picture of that particular structure. Between the White House and the old War Department and not far from this fence is the press garden where many cameras and video equipment remain ready for daily news outlets to utilize.

Apparently, this is the lone picture that I took during Day Two. So we will quickly move on.

Day Three:

This is the Jefferson Memorial from a distance. This is also a good measure from my sister's house and marks one of my longer running excursions. I eventually made my way around the park and inside the structure.

And here stands the immortalized figure of Thomas Jefferson. This really is a fascinating sight. The statue is beautiful. Throughout the interior of the structure are poignant quotes by the honored figure. This structure, like many others in D.C., seems so much more mammoth in reality then as depicted by the camera. All of these buildings and monuments are absolutely imposing and all the more impressive because of it.

This is a landscape view of the city as seen from the Jefferson Memorial. This image doesn't do justice to how beautiful the city looks from this perspective. It does, however, show just how tall the Washington Monument is in comparison to the skyline that sits next to it. Those buildings that can be seen in the distance are not small. Rather, they are six to seven story immense works. The Monument simply dwarfs all.
